It truly is a dynamic world in which we now live. Drought consumed many of our regional areas, followed by devastating bushfires, only to be trumped (excuse the pun) by COVID-19. Now so many Australians living along the eastern seaboard have again had their lives thrown into turmoil with flooding. In spite of all this, I believe, we are extremely fortunate living in Australia, in an area less tainted by these natural disasters.
I am inordinately proud of our School Sustainability Council and its burgeoning knowledge and commitment to countering climate change’s impact. It is difficult to navigate the social complexities, issues and politics which appear to dominate all aspects of the current social discourse.
For me as a principal, I wish to ensure our students are equipped with the knowledge, receptiveness to different perspectives, determination to make a difference, strong communication skills, humanity and kindness, to impact positively on our world in whatever forum is commensurate with their talents and interests.
