OZTAG Champions!

Oztag champions

On Wednesday 9th June, Engadine High School attended the Cronulla Sutherland Regional Oztag Championships held at Barden Ridge. We had 6 teams, one in each division, and 79 students attend the competition from Years 7-12. Despite the freezing cold conditions out at The Ridge, the sun came out and we had many wins and close games throughout the day by all teams. There were single effort tries and also fantastic team combinations in scoring, but mostly there were smiles on faces and good times had at a sporting carnival.

Although many teams came close to making the semi-finals, it was our 9/10 Boys team that were the only team that made the semi-finals and played Port Hacking HS where they blew them off the park in an 8-1 win. The boys then came up against a strong opponent in Woolooware HS in the Grand Final, who they had a 2-2 draw with earlier in the day.

After a another close game the scores were level 3-3 at the end of regular time and so we had to go to a drop off. After a tense few moments, the EHS boys scored and then gutsily defended their lead to be champions on the day. Thanks to all the students who participated in such a wonderful day. We are off to the Champion of Champions competition and we wish the boys the best of luck!

Some special mentions for the day to students who played exceptionally well and with great sportsmanship were..
