A Special Learning Experience at Jibbon Beach

Student listerning to Dr UncleShayne Williams

The wet conditions did not dampen a very special learning experience at Jibbon Beach this week. Year 10 EYTIC students from EHS and Beverly Hills Girls High School and Year 11 Aboriginal Studies students spent the day listening and learning from Dr Uncle Shayne Williams and Mrs Amy Cousins. Uncle Shayne shared many stories on Aboriginal culture and history and a local Dharawal dreaming story about Burri Burri (the whale). We visited the rock engravings at Jibbon, wove some traditional bracelets with Amy and thoroughly enjoyed our day in the Royal National Park. Thank you to Uncle Shayne, Julie and the team at the Royal National Park Environmental Education Centre for providing such an enriching program. Thank you to Gymea Community Aid and Information Service for their continued support of the wonderful EYTIC program which brings our schools together. @Beverly Hills Girls High School Sydney
