Engineering Studies Students to BlueScope Steel

Student watching steel being manufactured

Embarking on an educational journey, Ms Allen and Mr Le Serve recently led 35 enthusiastic Year 11 and 12 Engineering Studies students to BlueScope steel at Port Kembla. The excursion offered a firsthand glimpse into the intricate process of steel production, showcasing the transformation of iron into steel through the Basic Oxygen Steelmaking (BOS) system.

This was a hands-on experience that provided an invaluable enrichment to the student's learning in the Engineering Studies course. Witnessing the industrial marvel of steel production fosters a deeper understanding of theoretical concepts taught in the classroom, bridging the gap between theory and practice. This exposure to real-world applications ignited curiosity and passion, fueling their motivation to excel in their studies.

A highlight of the day was a captivating discussion led by a young electrical engineer, who shared personal insights and career opportunities within the steel industry. This interaction not only broadened students' awareness of potential career paths but also instilled a sense of aspiration and ambition as they contemplate their future endeavours.
