Our Year 10 Duke of Edinburgh Silver students laced up (and soaked through) their shoes for another unforgettable Duke of Ed journey – hiking from Heathcote Station to Karloo Pools, onwards to Uloola Falls, and finishing strong at Waterfall Station!
Despite the rain and soggy trails, spirits stayed high and the adventure didn’t disappoint. Teamwork was on full display as students helped each other navigate rocky climbs, slippery descents, and very enthusiastic water crossings – with shoes often fully submerged!
The word of the day? Trench foot. By midday, Mr Richardson had heard more World War I references than a history exam: “Sir, this is just like the Western Front!” Thankfully, no actual trench foot occurred… though some socks may never recover.
Well done to all hikers for your resilience, teamwork, and humour throughout the day. Next stop: Katoomba in October – and we’re coming in strong!
