Support Unit
At Engadine High School, the Support Unit provides a nurturing, safe, and inclusive learning environment tailored to meet the diverse needs of our students. With five specialised classes, our experienced educators deliver individualised learning programs that focus on each student’s strengths, needs, and goals, aligned with both NESA outcomes and Life Skills outcomes.
Our approach emphasises small class sizes and personalised teaching to support learning and wellbeing. Students have access to mainstream classes, allowing them to engage meaningfully with their peers and the broader school community. Inclusion is an important part of our culture: students actively participate in whole-school initiatives, events, and social opportunities, fostering a strong sense of belonging.
Transition planning is a key priority at every stage of the student journey- from starting high school to preparing for life beyond school. We work closely with students, families, and external providers to develop lifelong skills such as communication, resilience, social awareness, and independence. Our strengths-based approach is supported by targeted programs and access to quality training designed to equip students for success in their future pathways.
The Support Unit staff collaborates regularly with students, families, and external stakeholders to create personalised learning and support plans that address each student’s unique learning profile. This collaborative approach ensures appropriate adjustments and accommodations are in place to maximise student achievement and wellbeing.
We are committed to celebrating diversity, nurturing confidence, and fostering a love of learning in every student. Through ongoing monitoring and tailored support, we strive to empower students to reach their full potential and actively contribute to the school community and beyond.
