Vocational Education and Training (VET)

VET at Engadine High

VET (Vocational Education and Training) courses are available for study by students as part of their School Certificate or Higher School Certificate. Almost all VET in Schools courses lead to nationally recognised Australian Quality Training Framework (AQF) qualifications, either certificates or statements of attainment. Some courses also include work placement. These courses can provide a head start towards a career and pathways to further study.

VET courses are delivered to students by Registered Training Organisations (RTOs). These can be their schools, colleges of TAFE NSW or other private RTOs. They require mandatory workplace learning where students will complete 70 hours of Work placement usually in their preliminary year. Students will receive credentials which could include Statement of Attainment or Certificate I, II or III. They may contribute to the Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) when students sit for the optional HSC exam.
