Over the last three days, the Sydney East girls softball team have gone to Manly to play in the CHS State tournament. The girls played exceptional well and came away with the silver medal! 2nd in the state. Best result in close to 10 years.
Their sportsmanship, motivation and great attitude were not only noticed by me and their parents but other coaches and players, especially the country teams who finished games with us saying how much they enjoyed the game. We ruffled quite a few feathers over the three days, beating Sydney North and Sydney South West and pushing eventual winners Sydney West to 7 innings (lost 4-2), all with many current state and Australian players (we had 2). Sydney East had not been close to beating these 3 teams for quite a few years.
Engadine’s representatives were Jessica Tripi (Yr12) and Tia Nelson (Yr11) and Jess received the MVP for Sydney East. When you see these girls please congratulate them.
