Performing Arts Camp

Students playing electric guitars

What an incredible start to our inaugural Engadine High School Performing Arts Camp!

Nestled in the misty magic of the Blue Mountains, our students launched into a week of creativity, courage, and connection. Day one saw them immersed in a rotation of dynamic workshops spanning dance, drama, music, and vocals. From stepping out of comfort zones to expressing themselves in new and exciting ways, students embraced each moment with open hearts and minds.

It was a day marked by vulnerability, self-discovery, and the early sparks of friendship – the perfect beginning to what would become an unforgettable journey.

Day Two: Workshops, Wonders and a Touch of Theatre Magic

Day two was nothing short of epic! Blessed with clear skies just in time, students split their time between hands-on, industry-led workshops and exploring the stunning local sights.

The clear highlight of the day was a visit from the Sydney Theatre Company – a truly unforgettable experience. From high-energy dance and inspiring vocal sessions to collaborative band work and intensive drama practice, our talented students gave their all.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the exceptional mentors who shared their expertise and passion:

  • Angela Hamilton – Dance Artist

  • Sydney Theatre Company – Drama

  • Emma Deans – Vocal Tutor

  • Mike Gordon – Music Band Specialist

The enthusiasm and dedication of our students was matched only by the quality of the guidance they received.

Day Three: Sharing the Stage and Spreading the Joy

Taking all the energy and skills honed over the week, our students travelled to Blaxland East Public School on day three for a very special visit. There, they led workshops for Stage 3 students and proudly performed pieces developed during camp.

A magical moment came when the entire school joined in singing and dancing to Living on a Prayer, a song both groups had been working on separately. The joy and unity in the room were absolutely electric – a memory we’ll all carry with us.

Curtain Call: A Fitting Finalé

The final day was the perfect conclusion to a week of artistic growth and unforgettable moments. From the breathtaking mountain views to the warm hospitality, delicious food, and cosy accommodation, every detail of the experience helped make it something truly special.

Students and staff returned home utterly exhausted – but with hearts full, minds inspired, and spirits lifted.

We extend a massive thank you to everyone who brought this camp to life – especially our phenomenal Performing Arts faculty. Special recognition goes to Ms Comelli, Mr Drayton, Ms Hathaway, Ms Maroon, and Ms Harrison. Your dedication, passion, and creativity have left a lasting impact.

Here’s to the power of the arts, the strength of community, and the memories that will last a lifetime.
