The Year 8 SRC organised our most successful bake sale ever on Thursday 29th April for our sponsor child Romani! Engadine High has been sponsoring Romani for six years now, through Plan International. Romani is 12 years old and is from Ethiopia. Every year we raise money for Romani so her and her community can live a happy and healthy life.
All the SRC members baked up a storm. Delicious homemade treats were sold for 50 cents to $2, along with cold soft drinks and the treats were very popular! With almost all the treats selling out at recess, we can clearly see that Engadine High is very enthusiastic about supporting Romani!
Not only was there a bake sale, but the Year 8 SRC taught a short lesson to all Year 7 classes during HSIE to give them some background information about Romani, her country, her life and Plan International who organises our sponsorship.
We managed to break the EHS bake sale record and raised a massive $1018.95.
The SRC are not only extremely happy with the result of the bake sale but are also very proud and overjoyed that we have been able to raise enough money for Romani to continue to go to school and receive medical treatment when it is needed!
On behalf of the SRC, we are extremely thankful to all the students and families who baked for us and to all the students and staff who brought a treat … as a little can go a long way.
Thank you so much for your support!
