2020 Dance at EHS finished with an awesome group of students who volunteered their time in the school holidays on a Dance Film Project that will be published very soon in 2021. My sincere gratitude goes to the students and their families for offering up their free time for such a worthy production.
EHS Dance Ensembles
2021 is well and truly underway with students signing up for ensembles in Week 3. Auditions for ensembles will run Week 4 – Monday 15th February from 3:05 until 4:15 in the School Hall. Absolutely all students are welcome to come and participate. It does involve a level of commitment that all students who participate commit to a full year of ensemble work.
During 2021 we trialled a leadership program where senior students ran ensemble programs for the junior groups and due to its high level of success we are cloning that concept for 2021. Congratulations to all of the students who participated in this great program and well done to the leadership team Zoe, Emma, Aisha and Zoe for your commitment.
EHS School Dance Subject
The dance subject is significantly growing at EHS with our highest number of candidates sitting their Dance HSC in 2021. Their studies are well underway with live performances coming soon. Students have recently signed up their dancers for the Core Composition component and two students recently participated in the CAPTIVATE HSC Workshop which ran at the Education Precinct whereby students were prepared for all three components of the course with special guest lecturer David Spurgeon speaking about the Set Work of Study Sarabande. Keep up the good work year 12.
Bangarra Dance Theatre Workshops
We have successfully been accepted into an incredible program run by the Bangarra Dance Theatre Company. This will provide our students with an invaluable experience delving into traditional cultures of the custodians of this land and working with professionals via the digital learning platform. I am excited about the opportunity that this will present for our school.
Onwards and Upwards!
