Celebrating Wellbeing Week

Students attending Weaving workshop

Welcome to Wellbeing Week at EHS! This week, we're putting the spotlight on the "5 Ways to Wellbeing," and today's theme is all about "Be Aware."

Happy Monday, everyone!

Our students have been kicking off this week with a range of activities designed to promote awareness and mindfulness. We've had mindful art sessions that encouraged creativity and self-expression, invigorating yoga classes that help us connect with our bodies and inner selves, calming meditation to find peace within, and even some fun biscuit making to engage our senses and enjoy some delicious treats!

Remember, the journey to well-being starts with self-awareness and being present in the moment. Take a moment today to appreciate the little things and find joy in the present.

Let's keep the positivity and good vibes flowing all week long! Stay tuned for more exciting well-being activities and remember, it's important to start your week with a smile!

Highlights of Day 2 of Wellbeing Week, focusing on the theme of "Learn."

Our students have been embracing the spirit of learning in the most creative and compassionate way! They spent the day weaving sleeping mats out of plastic bags for homeless people, an incredible and meaningful project.

A huge shoutout and heartfelt thanks go to Julie and Alison for guiding our students in this weaving adventure. Julie is the founder of Make A Nest, a fantastic organisation (check them out here: https://makeanest.com.au), dedicated to providing essential supplies to those in our community who need it most, including individuals impacted by domestic violence and homelessness.

It's Day 3 of Wellbeing Week, and today's theme was all about getting active and having a blast!

To kick things off, we started the day with a sizzling free bacon and egg breakfast, courtesy of our amazing BBQ cooks. A big shoutout to these culinary wizards for fueling us up for the day ahead!

But the excitement didn't stop there - we also had an epic before-school volleyball challenge that got everyone moving and grooving bright and early.

Now, we're thrilled to announce some action-packed activities in line with our "Get Active" theme. Staff and students are gearing up for an epic showdown with a staff vs. student basketball competition! Who will emerge victorious? Stay tuned to find out!

And if that's not enough, we're also hosting a thrilling handball competition. Get your game faces on, folks!

It's all about having fun, staying active, and fostering a sense of community. Let's make the most of every day and get moving! Enjoy every moment of Wellbeing Week at EHS!

Day 4: Helping Others!

Today was an incredible day dedicated to the theme of 'Helping Others,' and our students truly embodied the spirit of kindness and community support.

Salvation Army Visit: Our students took a trip to the Salvation Army in Menai, delivering the generous donations from our food drive and packing hampers for those in need.

St. Vincent's Nursing Home: The vocal ensemble showcased their talents with a heartwarming performance of "Scavenger Hunt" at St. Vincent's Nursing Home. The joy and connection they brought to the residents warmed our hearts.

Handball Tournament: In an epic showdown, our students organised a handball tournament, and guess what? Mr. Nigro's unbeaten record was finally defeated! Congratulations to the skilled competitors

Amazing Race Hunt: The school buzzed with excitement as students embarked on an Amazing Race Hunt, exploring various corners of the school in a quest for fun and adventure. Teamwork, problem-solving, and lots of laughter made this an unforgettable experience.

DJ Workshop: The beats were pumping as our students got hands-on experience at the DJ workshop! Learning the art of mixing and creating music, it was a day filled with rhythm and creativity.

Day 5 was the perfect way to bring this incredible journey to a close.

Karaoke Extravaganza: Years 8 and 9 unleashed their inner superstars with a Karaoke session hosted by the fabulous Ms. Cross. The laughter, the music, and the camaraderie filled the room as our students shared their talents and had a blast together.

Magician/Mental Health Presentation: A special thank you to Gotcha for Life for supporting the magician/mental health presentation for Years 8 and 9. It was a captivating blend of magic and important discussions about mental well-being, leaving our students with valuable insights and a touch of wonder.

Community Connections: During the extended lunch, community organizations joined us, creating opportunities for students to connect and learn more about the valuable resources available in our community. Building these connections is essential for ongoing support and well-being.

First Nations Students Workshop: The 'My Future Matters' workshop provided a platform for our First Nations students to share, connect, and celebrate their unique perspectives and aspirations for the future.

Mindful Cooking Magic: Ms. Daley and Ms. Dennis led a delightful Pancake and Milkshake Mindful Cooking session.

A massive THANK YOU goes to the incredible Mrs. Gibson, and Leisa Sheilds whose dedication and vision brought this entire week to life. Their passion for the well-being of our students has made a lasting impact that will resonate throughout our school community.

As we close the chapter on Wellbeing Week, let's carry the spirit of connection, kindness, and support forward. Together, we are a strong and united community!
